Susan Sherman

SECRETARY

Susan was born and raised in Royal Oak, MI, competed in gymnastics for Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor’s of Science in Education- Physical Education and Health in 1988. She moved to Montana in 1991 with her husband, Michael to teach Physical Education and Health at Two Eagle River School in Pablo, MT. Since moving here she obtained her Master’s of Arts in School Counseling from The College of Santa Fe, had two children and counseled elementary and middle school students in Polson, Bigfork, Olney and Kalispell, Susan retired from her 27 years as a school counselor in June, 2025.

Susan is a detail-oriented, calm, patient, empathetic, energetic, former school counselor. She supported middle school students and their parents in navigating social, emotional, and academic challenges for 17 years at Kalispell Middle School. During her tenure she was the lead facilitator of the district-wide Suicide Prevention Task Force and county wide Flathead Valley Quick Response Team. In her work, she was skilled in collaboration, conflict management, and developing support programs for students and was dedicated to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for growth and well-being. 

Susan joined the board of the Nate Chute Foundation in August, 2020. She is passionate about supporting our efforts to improve mental health and wellness as well as reduce suicide in our community. 

She loves spending time with family and friends outdoors all year long, mountain biking, skiing, bike&back packing, rock climbing and sea kayaking.
