Making a Referral to Suicide Prevention Counseling:
In order to be considered for the SPC, the youth must be between 10 -21, at risk for suicide and have financial barriers to receiving therapy. A youth may be referred to the program by a parent, school counselor, licensed mental health counselors, social workers, probation officers, nurses or family practitioners.

If you are concerned about a youth in Flathead County, please take these steps:
- When an at-risk youth has been identified and is eligible for SPC, call the Crisis Line at 406-752-6262 and ask for a SPC Counselor Referral.
- The receptionist will collect basic information and provide a list of SPC counselors (3) in youths identified community.
- Two forms should be completed, as described by the Nurturing Center Receptionist at the time of the referral, and parental consent given if youth is under 18.
- The youth and their family are encouraged to contact one of the SPC Therapists to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
