Montana Chapter for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) presents a one-hour program
by Montana Chapter Programs Manager, Tracy Rassley.

Gathering Place at the Gateway Community Center, 1203 Hwy. 2W., Kalispell, MT.


Introduction to Supporting Those at Risk is a 60-minute presentation that
provides introductory information on how to support someone with lived
experience. Participants who are interested in learning the basics of
supporting someone with lived experience will learn what research tells us
about suicide and understand the process of recovery and the complex effects
that a suicidal crisis can have on a family or support system. The target
audience for this presentation are those who support someone with lived
experience and community members interested in an introductory education
program. Participants will learn strategies for helping to support someone with
lived experience, as well as relevant resources.

On behalf of Mental Health Awareness Month, North Valley Music School and the Nate Chute Foundation will host a Music & Mental Health Panel to explore the relationship between music and wellness.

The panel will take place Tuesday, May 17 at the Black Box Theater in Whitefish High School. Doors open at 6 pm with the panel occurring from 6:30- 8 pm. The event is free and open to the public, though pre-registration is required.

Moderated by the Nate Chute Foundation, the panelists will discuss how music and mental health are correlated and explore music's unique ability to unify people in difficult times. The panelists will also share their stories and explain how music has helped impact their own mental health journeys.

Community qpr training

Thursday, March 10th from 6PM - 7:30PM MST
In this 90 minute training, attendees will gain a broader understanding of suicide and suicidal ideation, and will learn 3 simple action steps that anyone can use to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) gatekeepers learn how to recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. This training is offered by Nate Chute Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedication to suicide prevention in northwest Montana.

23rd Annual Nate Chute - Banked Slalom & Boardercross

Please join us for the 22nd Annual Nate Chute, the second longest running snowboard banked slalom in the US, and third longest in North America. Proceeds help to raise money for a great cause - the Nate Chute Foundation. The courses are fun, the community is great, and you will likely get a bunch of cool stuff. The overall winners of the Open Men's and Open Women's divisions will earn an entry to next year's Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom.

Registration opens January 19th, 2022, at 12pm.

Suicide can be prevented. This presentation will cover what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. 

Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones and those in our community safe.

The Nate Chute Foundation, in partnership with the Glacier Queer Alliance, will be presenting a Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) suicide prevention training for LGBTQ+ folks and allies. This is a free educational opportunity

LGBTQ+ folks typically suffer from depression and suicide ideation at a rate 5 times that of the general public! Help reduce these rates in our community by knowing the signs and how to get people to the help they need.

This talk can be attended in-person and via zoom!

Suicide prevention is everyone's responsibility. National expert in suicide prevention, Dr. Scott Poland, will be speaking at Canvas Church on Monday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. This presentation is secular, and all are welcome in this community space. If you would prefer to watch from home, you can access the live stream via natechutefoundation.org starting at 6pm on Monday, September 27th. This informational session is for all parents and concerned adult community members.

This event is sponsored by the Nate Chute Foundation, Kalispell Public Schools, Glacier Bank, Park Side Credit Union, and Logan Health.
